The roots of 1810 Design Barn were planted In July of 2017 when Kristen and Eddie Grogan packed up and moved from Bedford, New Hampshire to the wonderful Village of Goffstown, New Hampshire. The home was built in 1810 by the son of one Captain John Smith whose son built a few other homes in the Village as well. They fell in love from the first moment they walked in the front door where they immediately felt transported back to the past. The 1810 House (or the “magic house” as they sometimes call it), is the current location of 1810 Design Barn. The shop sits in the space between the house and the carriage barn.
Eddie began woodworking in 2012 as a hobby and over time (with Kristen’s encouragement and drive), his portfolio of woodworking projects grew as did his tool and machine collection. Finally, Kristen gave the go-ahead and sacrificed her parking space allowing her husband to begin taking over the 608 square foot garage and converting it into a full-service woodworking shop. Edward credits Kristen with her helping turn his hobby into a dream come true, “without her” he says “none of this would be possible”. After the take over he would spend every spare moment in the new shop. If he was not at work or fixing something around the house he was in the shop learning and always making something new.
In April of 2021, for his birthday, Kristen handed Eddie a card that read “it is time to start living your own dream”. So he gave notice at his job and months later 1810 Design Barn was up and running. The shop is now busy creating custom furniture and other homeware and now has products in 22 of the 50 US states as well as overseas in the UK!
1810 Brand is currently building a showroom where customers will be able to plan custom projects with Eddie and Kristen. Please reach out with any custom projects or questions you may have. We can be reached at 603-897-5872.
